today has been seriously great. and it's only about to get BETTER, considering i'm going to see HARRY POTTER in just a few hours!! i'm so so so excited to be reunited with all of my magical friends...

this morning was awesome though because i was reassured that i really did choose the right major (as if me talking about preschool 24/7 wasn't confirmation enough...haha) i met with the teacher of my preschool class today as part of our mid-block assessment, and basically he just gave me some really positive feedback about my interactions with the kids in the classroom. it was so nice to hear from someone in the field that i already possess a lot of the qualities of a good teacher, because most of the time i feel like i really don't know what i'm doing! but he said he was impressed with my ability to engage the students, and to really get on their level and connect with them. i was so surprised! i know that i have fun with the kids, and i'm comfortable with them, but sometimes you just wonder if you're doing it "right." so although i'm fully aware that i have SO much more to learn, it was definitely nice to hear that i'm on the right track.

the whole thing really just made me think of how hard it was for me to decide to switch my major from nursing to teaching freshman year, and how i really questioned why i felt like i should do something different. but now it totally makes sense! it's crazy how life works itself out like that. i just remember being so stressed about switching my major, but as soon as i started taking classes for early childhood ed., things felt so right. i know that sounds cheesy, but it's so true! i just feel so lucky to have found something i love and that i'm actually kind of good at! it makes taking 5 years to graduate a little more bearable...

thanksgiving countdown:
i'm grateful for the opportunity i have to be in school. sometimes i complain about it, but i really am grateful to be studying things that i care about and that will help me be a better teacher in the end.
